My hubby and I love Topolino. We go maybe every other month or so for the weekday lunch buffet (only $10!) and the old-world style decor. I like that there is salad and vegetarian choices and hubby likes the meatballs, pizza, chicken and cake! I have also ordered off the menu and was pleased with my dishes. We recommend. Sit by the fireplace in the winter - it feels divine! Note: I deducted one star only because some times the mussels (among other things) have been out too long and are a little rubbery. If you get them when they first put them out - delicious!

I was skeptical of the all you can eat buffet. When I think Italian food, I don't think of buffets. I was also skeptical of the location. I read Temple Hills and was asked my husband if he was nuts. Got there about 4:40 and found out dinner didn't start til 5. Had to wait a bit, but our waiter made sure we got first crack at it (that was completely awesome of him and entitled him to a larger tip). I was skeptical of the amount of options available, until I saw the area. There was a really good variety around a bunch of proteins. Almost everything was delicious. The only real disappointing thing was the ziti that looked kind of like mac and cheese. Meatballs tasted a bit funny, but I still ate far too many of them. I have only been here once, but I will be back again. Next time I plan on trying something other than the buffet. Saw several plates of what other people ordered and I really want to try the chicken parm or alfredo now.

Only tried the lunch buffet. One word: GROSS. The pasta sauces were disgusting. The pizza was tasteless. It's a good deal I guess, but I was unimpressed. The restaurant is large and the staff is friendly, but the buffet was not good at all.

I have been coming to Topolinos for years and my entire family has too. We live the food and service, they are always on point. All of the food is good....

It was a fascinating experience; tasty Italian food served in a soul food vibe atmosphere. This is an interesting study in the broader shifts that occur in an area due to economic shifts outside of the resturant itself. I don't know the area that well. This was my first visit (came with relatives to whom I was introducing my lady friend). I can only imagine, based on decor (old ornate) that this restuarant and area was once largley white (maybe even Italian). Fast forward 20 years of white flight later this place really feels more like "Sadie's Soul Palace". While the crowd was a bit of a mix of people, the crowd during my visit were largely young "urbans" and their church lady Aunts (why aren't there an equal number of Uncles). We had the buffet, nice food, good variety of stuff, simple Italian (Americanized) standards.. No complaints there from a food preparation/taste standpoint. We were stuffed. I called John, the owner, because we got our bill for four and it was $80.00. A little bit of a shock (at least I can afford it and we would have made that choice likely anyway)- it would have been good to have the option of making a concious decision though. He informed me that on Saturday they don't have a lunch buffet unless there are parties going on (there was) and they set up and charge the dinner buffet price. That's fair obvisouly, but it would have been nice if our bored-disinterested waitress (could she have been "medicated"?) had mentioned that. That suprise bill might have resulted in some embaressment in some situations.

I love this place, it has the best pizza in the world. I haven't tried anything else but I'm sure it's all good. I recommend going during the week because if you try to go on a Friday night or the weekend it is going to be PACKED. But overall excellent food.

I'm a fan of their lunch buffet. It's not a huge selection of food, but the good is pretty good...on par with Olive Garden, I think. The staff is pretty friendly too. Location is easy to get too if you're in the area. I'm not sure I'd recommend the area at night unless you know it well.

Sorry channel 5 reviewed this place as a great spot. But the food was bland and had a lot of flies around the restaurant I will not be coming back again. Gave 2 stars because the good thing about the place was the drinks

I like this place. It is a fun place to go, nice atmosphere. I love that it has a firewood smell all year long. And in the winter, feels cozy and warm. I always get the dinner buffet. It is reasonably priced and has a good selection of items. I normally stick with the shrimp and mussels. All you can eat and very tasty. I love the mussels, a little overcooked (the way I like them) and marinating in tons of garlic. Some of the pasta is great, others so so. But overall a very good experience and I recommend it.

Service: 3 Food quality: 3 Ambiance/Environment: 3 CPI (Cost/Performance index): 4 Went with the lunch buffet twice. The selection was sufficient. I wish there were more veggie choices. Good pizza. Call ahead to book a table even for lunch time. The place can get very loud when there is some kind of off-site lunch function. A popular choice among the workers in Suitland and Andrews AFB.

So we went here based on the story we saw on Fox Five. I will say that I was not that impressed. We attempted to go on a Saturday night originally, big mistake. We were informed that it was an hour long wait. it wasn't happening. So we decided we would check it out one night during the week. We went in on a Thursday night. We were seated at a table and when we asked to move to a booth, the young lady that seated us informed us that we could, but that she would not be our server. She informed us that she didn't want any mess with the server that we were about to be seated with so she asked us to take whatever we needed to the booth we requested. I was slightly turned off by her admission that she has had issues with our server before. However, when our server came over, she was nice and extremely pleasant. She recommended the buffet given that it is one of their most popular options and the amount of food choices they had, so we bit that bullet and ordered the buffet. Let me start off with the positives...there were plenty of options. There was a dressed salad, a soup option, bread options, pasta salads, backed chicken, steamed shrimp, a fish option, pizza and meatballs with about 5 pasta options. Now, the chicken lacked flavor and so did the shrimp. The soup was so nondescript that I couldn't tell you what was in it. None of the pasta options on the buffet had a protein and the fish was over cooked. However, I did enjoy the meatballs, the lasagna and he pizza. I understand that this was a buffet, but I was not impressed with the options available. But before I write this place off as overrated, I will order an item off the menu prepared to my liking and then I will update this review. For now, I've experienced better.

Came here with a sprained ankle after completing Warrior Dash with my daughter. The staff here were so compassionate. They helped me get my food. They assisted me to the bathroom and waited. They also provided me with a huge bag of ice to elevate my foot in order to keep me from crying so I can enjoy my dinner. I'm so glad I waited to go to the hospital and come here to stuff my face first.

All you can eat Italian brunch buffet....sayyy whaaaaaat???????? My God this food was good! Though, I was fresh from church and STARVING.... hmm, still good. It was crazy busy at the time I went (Sunday, 12:30pm.) Though the food was hot and aplenty! I tried to get a little bit of everything, but that only turned into me eating from my plate and my husband's.... sorry babe. I would have never thought to eat here. I don't live in the area, so when I friend suggested it, I was kinda whiney about it. I'm glad I took a chance. I almost didn't want to post my review, as I don't want to give away this little secret place. Not quite a hole in the wall, but definitely no fancy-schmancy. Prices were excellent. We paid $50.00 for two people. As far as brunches go, this was a good deal. No mimosas or anything like that as far as I could tell. That was a bummer. The waitstaff didn't really seem prepared for the large crowd they had this day. The seafood was fresh and delicious. My recommendation are the mussels. The pasta items were also very good. PROS Parking is great here Good food that is different than reg buffets Price is right Television, if you want to check a game out while eating CONS No mimosas or specialty drink... (that I knew of) Lines for food were long The place is pretty small bathrooms needed tending to often!

This place is amazingly delicious. I've been here several times for the Sunday brunch and dinner buffet. Each visit I've had excellent service and the food has been hot and fresh. The brunch buffet has all your Italian favorites, spaghetti, Alfredo, lasagna, tortellini and of course a variety of pizza. They also have an awesome omelet and waffle station. Did I mention they have hot steamed ready to peel all you can eat shrimp and mussels!! They always have a homemade soup, salad, and cornbread. I promise you, you will not be disappointed. I'll have to take pictures next time.

I went yesterday for my Aunt's 60th birthday dinner. We all did buffet and everything was DELICIOUS! The staff was very attentive and friendly, all of our dishes were cleared immediately. My Aunt cried as the staff, including the manager sang "Happy Birthday". I ate to my heart's content, I woke up this morning still thinking about the food and ways to get back to more ASAP. PLEASE don't EVER think about changing the pizza recipe! I've been looking for good pizza and have finally found it! I wish I had a bottomless stomach, I wanted to keep eating cheese pizza for the rest of the night... Thank you for such a WONDERFUL experience Topolino!!

Despite the nice decor, this place was far from Italian. I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with broccoli. Well the broccoli didn't come with the Alfredo so they ordered me a side of broccoli and I had to put it in myself, which was a first for me. The Alfredo was far from good. Completely bland. Zero flavor. No amount of pepper and crushed red pepper helped. I don't often take my leftovers home, but here I didn't want to at all. The cheesy bread they give out was just bread with some cheese thrown on top. The place was busy and had good reviews, but when I didn't see one single Italian person on staff, I knew that this place was only popular because most of the patrons probably don't know what authentic Italian tastes like. Therefore, I felt I had to post this review to warn those that are looking for a good Italian meal, despite the reviews and decor, you won't find good Italian food here.

I've been eating at Topolino's over 20 years. They didn't have a buffet way back then so I tried lots of different dishes. Nowadays, I take guests and/or clients for lunch because you can get in and out without a lot of wasted waiting time. I haven't tried the dinner or brunch buffet but lunch is pretty decent. There's not a lot to choose from but what they have is well prepared. There's something for healthy eaters and the rest of us. The pasta dishes are loaded with real cheese, not cheese powder or orange/cheese sauce. The buffet soup is usually on the blah side but rest tastes like real food, not institution food. They always have chocolate cake and one or two others for desert. A lot of chocolate cakes taste brown, not chocolatey but theirs tastes like real cocoa. This is the buffet place to go if you want quality over quantity.

The food is awesome. My service did a great job helping me make my dinner selection. I would take out of town family and friends for lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is not took loud and the decor fits the restaurant's theme and food choices.

I can't begin to tell you how much I love this place. Food fantastic!!!! Let me say again. Fantastic!!!. I been to alot of Italian's restaurant, but this by far is one of the best. Local right in PG. Great customer service. Great buffet, Fabulous atmosphere. Great first date place.

  • Arti A.

The manager is on point!! Offered drinks while we waited for a table, and when my preferred pizza topping wasn't there at the buffet, they made me one and brought it to the table! Thanks!! My fav thing is the pizza and those longish round pasta noodles they have at the buffet! The buffet in general is awesome.

This was my first visit here. After seeing the segment on Fox 5 "Will you eat there?", I was tempted to give them a try. My party and I arrived around 5pm to beat the rush. I understand the weekends are pretty packed so we figured we would get there early. We were greeted in the parking lot by a group of men who were undoubtedly, "parking lot pimpin". Needless to say, I was not impressed by the outside. Inside, the waiting area was tight as it's shared with the "to-go" counter (shout to to Big G from Backyard Band who I saw picking up three large pizzas). Our overall wait was about 20 mins. Not too bad. The ambiance wasn't what I'm used to. Extremely loud and a bit boisterous. DO NOT GO HERE ON A SATURDAY as a date night. You'll thank me later. The waitress came over, dry and looked burned out and said that she would be with us momentarily. Well, that never happened. We saw a guy (presumably the manager) beckon to another young lady to come over to our table. She took our orders. There was so much to choose from, including an $18 buffet (insert blank stare or dropped jaw here). While I have frequented more than my fair share of buffets, I'm just not a buffet kind of girl so that was NOT an option for this "Italian" restaurant. I got salmon which was pretty tasty. It came with a side of cheesy pasta and a salad. My friends got the seafood platter and the other pizza. Now there's the STAR of the menu....THE PIZZA!!! Outstanding!! The flavors were amazing and the crust, mouth-watering. I would definitely come here again but would take the hint Big G left and order a pizza...TO-GO!!!

Great place!! Highly recommended. Clean and fantastic customer service. Try the Topolino Sauce and enough said. Plus they have the best buffet. Get there early if you go during the buffet or you may have to wait. Well worth it though.

Friday I had a buainess lunch at about 1:30. I haven't dined at this place in many years. But I have heard many people still talk about the food there as well as the lot seems to always be full. That written, I was hopeful for rare treats. I was with a group and generally I tend to be an independent thinker. My thought usually says never never ever eat buffet food (my thing) However with the group all leaning towards the buffet which was over at 2 pm I felt compelled to at least consider that option. I made the effort to at least do a walk by to see the variety. As I did so, I spied 2 desert options. Quickly doing logical math I realized I could certainly not get food and 2 deserts for only 10.99 with any other option there. Without hesitation I grabbed a plate and began my quest. I tried meatballs, some chicken a pasta salad, tomato's and a tuna and shells spoon full. On par with my normal thoughts of Buffet food I got exactly what I expected. Noorishing but no masterpieces. As pre-planned in my earlier thoughts I went back to buffet area to get both slices of cake. A double chocolate and White Coconut cake. Both were pretty good. Service was very good. I saw management workout an issue with another patron and she seemed very professional and friendly. The next time I go I will try a regular entree to get the full experience.

Absolutely hands down best pizza in town! Always receive friendly service when I visit. I can definitely say I'm a regular.

If you're in the mood for authentic Italian, a really good brunch, a lively environment with a bar, Topolino's is the place to be. I take my family here quite a bit and have yet to be disappointed.

  • Ari R.

Family-friendly atmosphere and extensive menu. I ordered the Baked Rockfish (very good with a delicious sauce) and it came with a side of pasta (your choosing) Alfredo. The Alfredo was boring, but may have just been bland compared to the delicious sauce on the fish. Also received a salad and cheesy bread slices. Plenty of food. Staff were friendly even at busy times and it turned into a quick nice meal. In an area that didn't seem to have a lot of locally-owned options.

I loooove Italian Food and I looove Topolino's! I came here on a Thursday afternoon for lunch and they had an awesome lunch buffett for only $10.99! The food was tasty and hot. Most times when go to buffetts I notice that the food lacks seasoning but that is not the case here. The customer service is superb! I was immediately greeted and seated as soon as I arrived and my waitress never missed a beat. The only minor gripe I have is that the plates are too small ! (lol). Great place to dine with your family because the options are limitless. I will be returning more often.

  • Uteaka K.

Although the mozzarella sticks were ok, I didn't get my food and I wanted to eat dinner with my husband. The manager did come over and ask if I wanted to take it home at no charge, which was a plus. It was pretty good. Will we eat here again? Maybe.

Staff is good, and the buffet has a wide selection of food from a soup to some salads to veggies, pastas, and dishes. They also have dessert on the buffet. Seems out of place in the area, and the neighborhood is a little sketchy, but over all its a great place for lunch.

  • Colleen M.

Was in need of a restaurant in the area for dinner and was unsure of the location so got on Yelp and decided to try this place. Everything (food, salad, bread, and staff) was amazing. I got the carbonara. It was really good. My sister got the shrimp marinara and she said it was excellent as well. Both dinners came with a salad and a large side if garlic cheese bread. With a beer each, our total was right at $40. The overall atmosphere of the place was nice, very clean and the staff was exceptional. I highly recommend this place whether you are a local or just passing through.

Excellent choice after having to leave a fish resturaunt up the street. I left frustrated and very hungry after running errands all day and then Topolino came to mind. It's a local place that's been around for years. I came in was greeted right away! The waitresses are lovely and sweet! The food awesome and fresh! the manager and owner came over to check on us. Talk about customer service! It was truly good authentic Italian food too. I've found a piece of heaven here :)

  • Ben R.

The food was decent Italian restaurant fair. The prices for entrees, a bottle of Peroni or a glass of wine were very good. The waitresses were very nice. If you're in the neighborhood, and need a place to get a good dinner, this is a safe bet.

Went there last night for dinner, about 45 mins before closing. We ordered Large twin special pizzas. The price was good . The pizza wasn't bad but it wasn't as good as I'd hoped. I would come back because it's close to home, reasonably priced, and a chill atmosphere. It was a bit dirty with food all over the floor, and we were sat near to the stewards station, which was a bit gross. I got over it. I wouldn't be inclined to spend big money here like $20 + for an entree I would be skeptical of the quality.

This was my second time coming here and again I was very pleased with the food and service. I was here for my nieces 16th birthday party and they took care of my family with outstanding service. We opted to get the buffet and ordered the stuffed mushrooms from the menu for an appetizer which I can say were the best stuffed mushrooms I ever had hands down I would have ordered seconds it was that good. The buffet was great with a wide variety of foods including steamed shrimp, salad bar, an Italian style MAC n Cheese and my favorite thing from the buffet and it was my first time trying were the mussels they were fantastic!!!! They also had dessert on the buffet my fav was the chocolate cake delicious. I will be back here for my Italian restaurant needs Olive Garden who?

  • Sabrina B.

Not bad at all! Considering this part of town has very few solid restaurants, this is truly a gem! I have never gone and it not be crowded - that is a very good sign, no? the prices are insanely affordable and the service is very good. I have only been there for lunch, and though I am not a huge fan of buffets, the food always seems fresh and hot. Equally important is that the buffet is kept CLEAN. There is nothing more gross than a sloppy dirty buffet...bleh...not here. They do a very good job. And everyone is so darn friendly. If you are in the area and need to grab a quick affordable non-fastfood casual lunch, definitely stop by. Sit next to the fireplace. So cozy!

Went for an impromptu Valentine's night dinner. A mini-blizzard was to blame for our change of plans. Topolino was our best and safest bet. We knew the menu, we knew the location, we loved the food previously. Tonight due to the weather and the Valentine's Day falling on Saturday. It was absolutely packed in there last night. I mean over an hour wait at 8pm. Every seat and possible table was taken, people were eating, moving in and out. Hectic to say the least. But it was a very well managed atmosphere. No one complaining, we all knew, it was going to be a looong wait. The main restaurant manger was friendly and as accomodating as he could be. He had a job to do and we obliged. Little moments of joy occurred when we lept gleefully hearing our name called for the next table up. The food was good and came quickly. 2, nice 1/2" thick crab cake patties. Fried to a deep bronze color. Wild rice and steamed broccoli. So simple, so effective. Hennessy was nice-n-stiff too. Topolino saved the night.

My husband and our 2 kids ate here. We all had the manicotti and it was some of the best we've ever had. The salads that came with the meal were excellent. The servings were large and we got out meals very quickly. We'll definitely be back!

OMG so many military people in here at lunch time they straight up recked the buffet, BUT they let the little kid in line to get pizza......WHAT straight respect and hugs and kisses for looking out for a little kid.....AND, the restaurant was on point filling the buffet back up and as I was on vacation we had plenty of time to let the line thin out. Had nice waitress service was good even though they were really full on 7/10/14. I had eggplant didn't do the buffet but I will go back, my son liked it and I even got him to eat some veggies off the bar. Can and will be busy at lunch and I will gladly give up my buffet spot in line and order from the regular menu for our men and ladies in the armed forces any time any where...... Thanks for the good service this day and thanks to the troops for making a little kid feel 10feet tall!!!!

I have to give them five stars. I definitely enjoyed my dining experience completely! I love the decor of the place. Feels like an Italian kitchen or bistro but definitely has the space to be considered a family restaurant. Little to no wait for a table at 7:30 on a Thursday night. I had the calamari and it was seasoned very nicely. Not the best but pretty tasty. Sweet tea was excellent and yes, I do rate sweet tea. It's my favorite drink. I had a seafood pasta for my entree with clams, shrimp, mussels and scallops. Wonderful. They also give you garlic cheese bread which was heavenly even for leftovers. My friend ordered us a pizza which reminds me of Pizza Hut but much better. And most importantly, the service was excellent! She knew that menu through and through! And was personable and extra friendly. The manager came by several times to check. With big portions, affordable prices I WILL come back. Please keep doing it!!!

To say that I love Topolino's is an understatement. Sure there are more upscale establishments but if your looking for good food at a good price in a family atmosphere then this is the place. The staff are always nice and accommodating so hats off to management on their staff selection. Most of the time I settle on the buffet, the selection doesn't change too much but I always leave full and satisfied. If you've never been then give this place a try, I'm sure you'll leave a fan.

This place is very nice. Conviently located off old branch ave, it sits alone and has no otjer competition in the area. They would be number one anyway in my opinion. Foods fairly priced. Menu's pretty extensive. And if you dont feel like bothering with the menu just hit the buffet. Its $15 & worth every penny. I love the mussels. Theh also serve BIRCH BEER ... if you haven't had it ... TRY IT. its like a step above root beer. Delicious.

Every experience is great. The sunday brunch is very inexpensive but absolutely delicious. It is served buffet style with all of the usual breakfast treats (bacon, sausage, omelets and waffles made to order) plus all of your italian favorites including mussels & steamed shrimp. Pizza wasn't on the menu but someone came around offering it to every table. The staff here is so friendly & welcoming. The manager Randy is awesome! He is always happy to great and seat his customers and I have seen him wait tables, clean tables and even make drinks when it gets busy. I wish all of my dining and shopping experiences could be like this. It really does feel like you are amongst friends when you come here. The menu is extensive also with seafood, steak & more with nothing ever costing more than $30. I love the food here but I come back because the staff and management is awesome! Make sure you get there early because they are always packed but even during your wait the staff offers you something to drink.

***To go review*** I was in the mood for some Italian and have lived in the area for years. My sister always raves about Topolino so I decided to give it a whirl. Whenever I try a new spot I usually go for a traditional dish first. I ordered the chicken alfredo and was pleased with my dish. It also came with a fresh side salad and garlic cheese bread. The alfredo sauce wasn't greatest I've ever had but overall I was pleased with my purchase. The portion was plentiful and I ended up saving what I didnt finish for lunch the next day. I will try to dine in next time and try something with marinara sauce. PS One of the reviewers said the surrounding neighborhood was ghetto... Towards the back of the restaurant is a highway and in the front is another shopping center. That person obviously has never been near a ghetto in their life. Absolutely nothing ghetto about this area.

I know it sounds too good to be true all these outstanding reviews but I can't begin to express how amazing this place is!! Went for lunch today with the kids and had the most incredible food with the lunch buffet. Melted in your mouth freshest pasta, pizza, chicken and salad ever with the best service in town thanks to Robin. You've got to try this place!!! I'd give it ten stars if they were available!!! Thanks again for everything Topolino's!!!

I've driven by so many times not noticing the restaurant was there. Needed a great place in the Temple Hills area to meet a close friend to celebrate. I'm so glad we meet and ate dinner here. First, the service was exceptional. Our waiter was prompt and courteous, allowing us time to catch up before taking our orders. She knew the menu, giving us recommendations since we had never been to the restaurant before. And the dinner was fabulous!!! All parts of the salads were fresh and our appetizer, the spinach dip, was tasty. The entrees - my friend order the rib eye and I ordered the salmon and shrimp - were both both excellently seasoned, cooked and delivered to our table right after we finished our salads. We will be back - Topolino's is a gem of a restaurant.

This brunch was terrible! Very small selection, too cluttered and too loud. Never going back

I don't know much about Italian food, but this works for me! I've only tried their lunch buffet. I train and work across the street at Lloyd Irvin's Martial Arts Academy, so we shoot over here for lunch and pig out! Lot's of good selection at the buffett, pasta, salads, chicken, pizza, soup, bread, mussells, spaghetti, etc etc

This is my family's FAVORITE Italian restaurant. We don't eat Italian unless we eat here! The staff is always attentive and the buffet is plentiful. We've never had a bad meal here. Everything is delicious A must try!

Last night my wife and I went to Topolinos for dinner. I had the Topolino Trio which comes with 2 filet mignon medallions, 5 oz. lobster tail stuffed with shrimp, crabmeat and grilled shrimp. I asked that my medallions to be cooked medium well. When I received them they were very well done, hard and chard. They looked like two black rocks. I sent them back and I did not receive them until I had already finished the rest of my meal. This time they were rare and bleeding. The manager had an I don't care attitude and did not comp my meal. He only took off for the steak and charged me individually for the rest of my meal which really didn't make much of a difference.Topolinos use to be better then this. Maybe they are under new management, I don't know. Won't be going back any time soon.

Great Italian food, lots of choices and great service. The buffet is amazing for lunch. The pizza is even better. i highly recommend this place.

Went here for a going away lunch for a military friend. They had a buffet that was really really good and reasonable price for the amount of people we brought. Very impressed! Only draw back is the area which it's located. The establishment is well maintained and looks like it belongs in downtown alexandria not Clinton.

We enjoyed this place so much. The restaurant has classy Italian decor with a huge wood burning fireplace open on all sides in the center of the dining room. We were sat very fast by the owner of the restaurant. They have a wide range of pastas, chicken, and seafood on the menu but we took one look at the buffet and quickly decided its what we wanted. The buffet was hot, fully stocked, and kept fresh the whole time even after two bus loads of high school kids came in and went thru the buffet. The house wine went well with the pasta. The service was really good considering the whole restaurant was full. We were completely satisfied. I highly recommend this restaurant.

My favorite Italian restaurant and a neighborhood gem. I love the chicken Alfredo. They also have a seafood dish with mussels and scallops in a white sauce that is so delicious. The staff is always polite and accommodating.

The food is pretty good. I got the lighter fare meal with Salmon. It was definitely seasoned "light" but the veggies were great and it was a lot of them. I requested for my salmon to be cooked well and they did just that. The kids ate for FREE from the buffet which was great as they don't eat much. The buffet always have the same menu. It would be nice if they can change it from time to time.

***For the lunch buffet only*** A long-time friend of mine dropped in unexpectedly while on her circuitous way to Hawaii. We went out to lunch at Topolino where she was meeting another friend of hers for lunch. Topolino is an Italian restaurant a short drive away from Andrews AFB. It offers the full range of Italian food as well pizzas made in their wood-fired oven. It also does an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet, so it's a very popular place with people who work on the base. The restaurant had a nice family-run feel with nice aromas wafting through the dining room. The buffet line was well stocked with a nice variety of food selections. The salads looked crisp, bright, and colorful. The meat dishes were flavorful and not dried out. The mussels, frequently a problem in AYCE buffets, were plump, juicy, and bathed in a nice white wine, garlic and butter sauce. Slices of their pizza, another item that can be bad on a buffet, were much better than expected with a nice crust nicely accented by the wood-fired oven preparation. There were several pastas with choice of white and marinara sauces. The seeming popularity of the place for lunch results in frequent turnover of the food on the line so it was fresh and hot (or cold, if applicable). As a final selling point, the price was right, as the buffet was around $12. All told, Topolino offered a lot of bang for the buck with its tasty americanized Italian buffet fare.

I like coming here on Sundays to hit the brunch buffet. There's plenty of seating and it's great for large groups. So back to the buffet. It's usually the same types of items and I love them all. You can tell they put some love into the food. Let me break down the list from today: Clam chowder. Various past salads. French bread. Scrambled eggs, sometimes eggs benedict bacon, sausage, virginia ham Mussels and shrimp hash browns Baked chicken with green beans and caramelized onions spaghetti carbonara or alfredo Baked ziti(awesomely cheezy) pastries/donuts various cakes Cook to order omelet station. For a brunch buffet, the food is really good. I brought some co-workers here and they went nuts over this place. If you come here, I think you will too.

We went there today 12/24/2012 for dinner. I read the review, viewed the menu on-line but, there was nothing there which spoke of the buffet so, I called. The phone conversation was pleasant and I was told the dinner buffet begins nightly at 5:00pm. We went I had buffet & the others ordered from the menu. I ate while they watched! The television made it seem like a sports bar. Our waiter was beyond nice, helpful, no attitude AND gave us space. The buffet food was good and hot but, needed just a little more season's to give it that Italy taste, yea I've been to that part of the world. Our experience was good & will go back again!

What is there not to love about this place? -Been in the neighborhood forever -Charming -Clean -Cozy -Friendly -ITALIAN SOUL FOOD! Really, that's the best way to describe the food here. It is honest, simple, well-done, flavor-filled, heavy, huge-portioned Italian soul food! There is no "platescaping" or skimping or pretty presentation in here. They are going to plop your perfectly-cooked filet, SMOTHERED in crab meat and cheese onto the plate. Then they are probably going to fill the rest of the plate with pasta (with both red and white sauce) and veggies. (Filet/crab imperial) What ensues is a flavor explosion and the 'itis. Add in a pitcher of Sangria or any of their cocktails and you're really in for it. I have always left this place satisfied. BRUNCH Sunday brunch may be the best time to visit. The brunch buffet is cheap and extensive. Offerings include mussels, p&e shrimp, meatballs, fish, steak, potatoes, pastas, raviolis and tortelloni in red, white, pink or meat sauces, sausage, bacon, eggs, fried potatoes, baked chicken, a waffle station, breads, pastries, soup, green salad, tomato salad, desserts. And kids eat from this buffet for free. Can't beat that. Arrive early-ish--before noon to avoid crowds and lines.

Nice ambiance, really great service, and reasonably priced. Food is good but nothing exceptional. Not much if a wine list for N Italian restaurant. Enjoyed the fried mushroom appetizer and the garlic cheese bread. Alfredo sauce was pretty bland, but pasta was cooked well. Good place to eat if you want something low key and reasonably priced.

This place is amazing. Food was fresh and delicious. There were so many options that we ordered from the buffet. I'm a picky eater and everything me and the other 15 people with me had was delicious. I will be back. They had the brick fireplace lit. The ambiance was fantastic and so adorable.

I love this place! I have been going here for years and really love the feel, look and food. You can NOT go wrong with the Sunday brunch which is chock full of good food! They carry a full bar with a pretty good selection and the wine selection is ok. The lasagna is to DIE for!!! Yummay! They have so many good dishes here this is not one to recommend so please go and just get anything. It's all good! Take your girl, mom or friends to this place. You won't regret a great meal at a great price!

Probably a 3.8 stars here. Definitely feels out of place in a somewhat worn-down neighborhood, but once you turn the corner and find Topolino it's a shining star. Service was wonderful, friendly, and attentive. Decor was very nice and clearly someone has put a lot of thought and work into designing the place. We both had the buffet, which included shrimp, mussels, steak, fried chicken, cheese tortellini, cajun mac and cheese, spinach canneloni, pizza, pastas, salad, desserts, and more.

So, it's a buffet! I've been by this place so many times and never went in. Man was I surprised. The food was great! The place was packed and seemed like everyone was having their birthday there on that night. However, they did accommodate large parties well. I went back to that buffet at least 3 times (don't judge me, lol). They also had a nice menu that I contemplated ordering from, but who can pass up a buffet?! Onsite parking. Decent atmosphere. I'd go again.

I wanted to try this at least twice before giving a review. As the rating meter says, it is ok. Not the best but certainly worth going to if around the area. The decor is nice and the food is freshly prepared. On our first outing I tried the steak and crab cake combo with spinach. Crab cake was decent and spinach nicely seasoned but overcooked. Steak was prepared over a wood fire and gives it a nice flavor. Now the portion size was less than what I expected and the prices are a little bit high I believe for what they give you. Most recently, I tried the "famous" oven pizza and it was good actually. Again, not the best but good. It reminded me a little of how pizza hut used to be. Fresh toppings and the sauce is good. Now for the cons. Again, the prices are a bit steep for the overall quality and the service is pretty bad. The young teenagers that wait on you are not attentive at all and go about as whatever. On our first visit, our waitress totally forgot that we ordered appetizers and had the gall to blame it on the kitchen.. Hilarious! Like others mentioned, the area is a bit run down and they hire the locals for busting tables and taking orders. The people who work in the kitchen appear to be hard working and genuine though. Regardless, if around the area I would visit but wouldn't drive 20-30 minutes to dine there.

I work in Clinton and a coworker asked where to go out to lunch. I, OF COURSE, got on Yelp to see what was in the area and Topolino got some good reviews, so I checked it out! We were both quite satisfied with the lunch buffet. The food was hot and fresh and very good. The price was fair for a buffet of this size. I was pleased and would consider dining here again! Great find in Clinton!

This place is fantastic!! Before they were Topolino's - it was a bbq place - and before then it was called Oscar's a neighborhood bar. Topolino's is the best this little building has seen... I have bounced all over the menu and everything I've tried is great. Each time I order - the new order out shines the last. I have not ordered from the buffet - not a fan of items sitting out like that - guess I'm a food snob. I learned not too long ago they've been in business for 20+ years - I sincerely hope they're around for 20+ more.

My coworkers and I went there for a buffet lunch. They serve a lot of food for a great price. You have an easy task if you want to pace yourself with entree's: salads, breads, anti-pasta, main course, desserts, drinks, etc. Great atmosphere and the staff is very friendly. Unfortunately, I think it's in the wrong part of town b/c this place is too nice to be in this kind of neighborhood.

This is quite the hot spot for my office when celebrating any sort of special occasion. They cater to a lot of bigger groups during the week and have gladly accepted any reservations we have called up with. I have only eaten the buffet here but it is good and makes dividing a check up fairly simple. As of the last time we visited, they now charge $15 for the buffet, a drink, tax and tip. My favs on the buffet include the red potatoes/carrots/green beans mixture, pizza, seafood pasta, angel hair pasta with peas and bacon, and the carrot cake. It's pretty much always the same spread but uniquely includes mussels too. The turn over is quick so the food is always fresh. Do not come during prime lunch hours and expect to have any sort of quick experience. The buffet is set up in a back corner and the line is slow moving. On most days at 12:00, the line stretches all the way back to the restaurant entrance. If you can hold out until 1:00, you'll have a much better experience. The managers are sensitive to the line and will bring bigger groups some of the food from the buffet to keep them out of line. Topolinos manages to stay non-scary in a pretty rough area. The owners/managers seem to really care.

I have been a patron of this restaurant for 10 years. This is an outstanding pick for a Sunday buffet style brunch, but they also have a buffet every night from 5pm - 9pm and its good as well (just less variety.) The Sunday buffet has freshly roasted lamb and it is absolutely delicious. The food is excellent whether its a menu item or the buffet. The salad is always fresh, pasta is always homemade and delicious and they have to make some of the best pizza I've ever had. Prices are very reasonable. Wine list is always good and they change it up often enough to keep it interesting. The service is usually very good here. Sometimes it can get a little loud when there are a lot of groups.

The first time my boyfriend and I went together, it was good. This time, his carbonara was bland and the forgot the peas. The bread was overcooked and my salmon was flavorless. However, my salad was fresh. It would have been better if the waitress would have brought the right salad dressing, but it was too late because I already put in on salad.

This restaurant has always been a fave "go-to" for those of us in the Clinton area. We visit the $9.99 lunch buffet often and especially enjoy the pasta carbonara and mussels. Even when crowded, the service is excellent. I've planned several retirement parties there over the years and Topolino's has always given the best service. Even our friends who live in other areas ask to visit Topolino's when we meet. The interior is roomy and warmed by a fireplace in the winter. Very nice atmosphere that you might not expect from the surrounding neighborhood.

I really like this place! I went yesterday for the dinner buffet and overall I think that the buffet is the best value for your money, especially with the inclusion of fresh seafood. But, as with any buffet, you may not get exactly what you want exactly how you want it. I think that the buffet is a good sampling of their offerings but I would like to try some of the other entrees as well. The service was great... No complaints there! Our server was very attentive, made sure that we were taken care of and never disappeared for extended periods. I will definitely go back, but next time I want to try ordering from the menu. If other patrons' empty (or near empty) plates were any indication of the food, I will not be disappointed!

We routinely go here for big family gatherings because it's easily accessible to 95 & rt 5 & you can count on the buffet because the food NEVER changes !!! I personally like the cold pasta shell salad with mayo but the kids like the grilled chicken w/string beans. Family friendly & lots of parking

TOPOLINO'S get a 4 star from be simply because as (Jed L. stated) they are truly a Mom & Pop Italian Bistro that serves VERY GOOD comfort food. I went there for the 1st time a few years ago and was skeptical because 1. the location & 2. the authenticity of the food...... Little did I know I was in for a rude awakening because the food was OFF THE HOOK, AWESOME, VERY TASTY, AND VERY INEXPENSIVE!!!!!! Don't overlook this spot because you will be missing out on some good food!!! It may be the most "OFFICIAL" Italian Restaurant but it serves it purpose!!! They have an Awesome Buffet that they open after 5:00pm which has some of there favorite dishes on it (Pizza, Spaghetti, Shrimp Alfredo, and many more.....) for only $15.00 - VERY GOOD AND WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!! Outside of the Buffet have some excellent menu selection that come served with a nice helping of food...you will be taking food home to go!!!! Oh and I can't forget the best part...the CUSTOMER SERVICE here is OFF THE CHAIN....these are some of the most nicest people I have ever encountered....(now if you encounter something different don't blame me...LOL) but I have gotten nothing but the best from this place!!! I love this place for it is.....

I absolutely LOVE this spot! I've been coming here for YEARS. It's a quaint Italiano bistro with great food. You can either order off the menu or you can order from the all you can eat buffet which serves a variety of authentic Italian foods including seafood, cakes, steak, baked chicken, stuffed pastas, salads, an assortment of desserts and even more! The staff is friendly for the most part; I've been going for years so I've seen better staff members come and go, but thats not a big issue. The drinks are really good too && you dont have to worry about over paying; the quality and quantity of the dishes are perfecto. PS: Did I mention they also serve breakfast and a brunch buffet! What more could you ask for in a restaurant.

Not the greatest spot for a lunch as the food from the buffet is extremely heavy BUT. Still a Very nice Italian buffet consisiting of salad, Italian bread, soups, various pastas, lasagne, meatballs and a decent variety of clams, shrimp and mussels. Also they have two homemade cakes available, which were delicious. Price is right at $8.99 per person and about an additional $2 for a soft drink. Service is really good and the restaurant is clean. The downer. The surrounding neighborhood is extremely ghetto!

Went to Topolino's 1.26.13 to celebrate a family member's birthday. I absolutely loved this place. We were a large party of 13. Three people ordered entrees and 10 ordered the buffet. We also had appetizers- fire roasted BBQ wings (so good), calamari and crab dip. All 3 were the "best in class". Calamari crisp and fresh/not greasy or chewy. Wings well done and seasoned just right. Crab dip with large fresh pieces of crab. The buffet was replenished constantly; mussels, large plump shrimp, baked chicken with string beans, steak, meatballs and pastas. They even replenished with different pizzas on the buffet, but we ordered a seafood and a chicken pizza. The seafood pizza was great. chicken pizza was just good. Chicken Alfredo looked good, my brother said the sauce was a little rich/not what he was used to but he ate every bit of it. We drank (pitchers) of beer, sweet tea, and Coke. The things that added to the experience were our waitress...(think her name was TJ), spacious and accessible, nice clean bathrooms and buffet area. They didn't rush us out even though the lobby was full of waiting patrons. Would definitely go again. Good for groups, kids, and even a couple of cozy booths for a romantic date.

Wow! I'm so glad we found this place. I hate buffets but this one was very fresh as they only put out a little at a time so the entrees don't sit around for very long. From crisp salads, pizza and pasta carbonara the 8.99 is well worth it. If the buffet is this fresh and tasty I can only imagine what the made to order dishes are like. I also like the decor is clean and homeny.

All around a decent Italian establishment that separates themselves from the cookie cutter chains like Olive Garden. We did not have the buffet so I can't comment on that. Oue entree were fairly priced, the taste was good and service was excellent. Good family restuarant, I don't recommend taking a date.

I have been coming here with my husband for about a year. It has been GREAT on the food (we always get the buffet). Most of the waitresses are great, however, there has been a couple of times that we didn't get the service we wanted. Since we always get the buffet, all we need is our drinks and the check at the end. We like to get water, and coffee (not much to order, right?). The thing going on last weekend (May 26), was that their coffee maker was not working right, giving warm coffee, not hot. They were told by the Manager to heat them on High in the Microwave. I don't know how the waitress didn't scald her hand bringing it to us! It was so hot, I could not hold onto the handle, let alone touch the cup to my lips! I told the Manager as we left that McDonald's got sued for scalding a customer, and to be careful not to let it happen to them. I told him that they needed to use a lot lower number on the microwave. He acted as if it wasn't his problem. I think I remember another manager there before that was older, that was veeery particular on how things were being run in the kitchen. I wish he would have been there to talk to. We will not be going back for a few weeks, allowing time for a possible new coffee maker. We will probably call to ask about the coffee before we go. I love the food here, but I want my coffee, and I want it at a drinkable temperature.

Topolino is a local ma and pa business that serves comforting Italian dishes. While I've had better Italian food at more upscale places, Topolino still manages to satisfy and please at an affordable budget. They offer a wide variety of Italian dishes from simple spaghetti dishes to more lavish dishes such as the Zuppa Di Pesce. The Zuppa is one of the restaurants top selling dishes. It consist of a generous amount of mussels, scallops, shrimp, and clams on top of your choice of pasta and sauce. Try it with linguine and the white clam sauce. So yummy! A personal favorite of mine is the eggplant parmesan. It's quite possibly the best eggplant parmesan I've had. Most places I've had eggplant parm come with little tiny thin slices of eggplant. At Topolino, they give you hearty whole slices of eggplant. Every entree comes with a house salad and addictively delicious cheese bread. The desserts here are not great but not bad either. If you are looking to satisfy your sweet-tooth try the chocolate cake with strawberries and cream. Not too bad! Topolino also offers a tasty lunch and dinner buffet as well as Sunday brunch. Sunday brunch attracts the Jesus crowd so come early if you don't want to wait too long.

The food was decent Italian restaurant fair. The prices for entrees, a bottle of Peroni or a glass of wine were very good. The waitresses were very nice. If you're in the neighborhood, and need a place to get a good dinner, this is a safe bet.

If you're in the mood for authentic Italian, a really good brunch, a lively environment with a bar, Topolino's is the place to be. I take my family here quite a bit and have yet to be disappointed.

Delicious.

We had the wood fired thin crust pizza. The sauce was nicely seasoned and thick. Spicy pepperoni and the veggies were perfectly done.

By far my favorite Italian Restaurant. A great place to bring a special woman on a date. There is a lovely fireplace that creates a wonderful ambiance if you request your table's location appropriately. Feel free to call ahead and let them know your needs. Excellent staff!!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
